Whats the history of A-Alikes?

A-Alikes met in Tallahasse, Florida in 96 on some grind shit...where we met Deadprez (Stic, M-1) and Hedrush's (Tahir, Abu)...Dead Prez moved up to NYC and got a deal on Loud... we moved up and stayed in the Bronx with Hedrush Abu and Tahir (who also moved up from Tallahassee)...see in Tallahassee we had a 3 story crib that us, Dead Prez, and Headrush did music from and not to mention any local kid with a dream...the studio was in the attic...our collective was called Heads From the Attic...

Ness: Yeah we was homies b4 we started rappin'....real shit.... we came up to New York to change our lives and do this music shit on a whole 'nother level..... And we still all grindin' together.... People Army R.B.G.z 4 Life....




What does the name A-ALIKES stand for?
A alike, B alike, Cee alike.... "a-alikes" means I eat u eat... "a-alikes" means people of like minds... It's a term that comes from the lessons...... We say A-Alikes is not our name its a goal....u know 'I Eat, U Eat'.... Your peoples should be your A-Alikes... Comrades.

When I first heard the cut WHAT'S YOUR POLITIC"..."this ain't no everyday rap shit" is right! The game needs joints like that right now. How would you describe your sound?
K: Our sound is a war cry... The people need this right now...
Ness: Our sound is the soundtrack to the grind, the sound of the time...... Guerilla shit... Street shit... Hustle/struggle... As a matter fact...u be the judge...cop that album ....I eat, u eat.... 4 real...real recognize real...we got that type music u live with not just some shit u bang in the club or ridin' around to ...u wakin' up, baggin' up, plottin' and plannin', smoking to this shit, livin' life to this shit.... What sets you apart from the other groups out there?
K: We use hip hop as a weapon...as a way to go at our oppressors...and we don't use rap to advertise for big corporations by bragging about shit we bought...
